Theme: "Getting a VC We Don't Know To Mentor Us"
I have this theory that people do better when a mentor paves a way... groomed ski runs are so much easier than fresh powder on the back bowls.
Just like in Whistler- Blackcomb, I like long easy blue runs with a mega altitude differential and a nice breeze while using minimal leg muscle effort. Ok, enough with the paved fun ski analogy
Lets all learn to use a VC to mentor us
During my legendary VC panel at SXSW where I crashed people on to my panel... one big *NUGGET* of knowledge was, "Ask for mentorshipship before you ask for money"
Think about that.
There is an article on GigaOm that is required reading. It is about "How to Charm a VC to Mentor Us"
Theme: #ReverseVC
VCs pitch us the entrepreneur.
It debuted at Stanford Business School. Grand-opened at Kauffman Fellows Center for Venture Education and launched at
SXSW.
Sometimes VCs stand on a soapbox. Sometimes a VC will speak on a 2am
panel.
Sometimes I will crash a VCs admin onto a SXSW stage and have them
tell us how it is really done.

*If you'd like an invite, email me, Larry Chiang, the event secretary*
|
Here is how:
- Email me your company and 2 sentence pitch (larry@duck9.com)
- Tell me what VC you like and who would you like to mentor you - dream BIG
- I'll ping back a code so that you can get a ticket
- I reserve the right to revoke your ticket up to 24 hrs prior
- I reserve the right to kick you out with a 100% refund on the spot if you're an jerk to one of my VCs that I had to use my relationship capital to woo to pay to pitch you... so BE NICE and kiss some VC butt. The food you're eating costs more than what you paid.
|
Remember, in this age of 'Moore's law' and "everything is FASTER"...
...if you can not get your ROI for your $96 BEFORE you come... you should
probably read my articles on "How to Work a Conference". If you don't get
your money's worth before the party starts, you should not be coming and
maybe you should re-think being an entrepreneur.

Theme: #BYOVC
- B - bring
- Y - your
- O - own
- V - venture
- C - captialist
Everyone has a VC friend that does not want to fund them. In my case I have
about 80 of these 'friends'
HEY, have you heard of a "White Elephant" gift exchange?! It is where you
bring a gift you did not want and you pool all the unwanted gifts together.
You get to pick one and you go through rounds where people trade, steal,
borror, swap gifts. It is fun!
PLOT spoiler: Everyone goes home with a new gift they do not want.
Think of the BYOVC theme as a white elephant exchange for VCs.

Asse9 stands for Austin Secret Society of Entrepreneurs 9. It means if you're not striving to be entrepreneurial, you're asinine.
No we don't have a website or else it would not be very secret now would it
All we have is a hashtag that we rarely use '#asse9' but what we do have is a huge rolodex.
Brands we love:
